Children's Choirs at Tallowood
‘I will sing with the spirit and the understanding also.’ (I Corinthians 14:15)
‘Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things unto God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.’ (Ephesians 5:19-20)
‘I lift up my voice to the Lord.’ (Psalm 142:1)
Every child who attends a graded choir at Tallowood Baptist Church has the opportunity to understand the directions in these and other scriptures as they are guided through . . .
- spiritual activities – knowing God, praising God through music, honoring God in daily living
- musical activities – finding their singing voices, reading and interpreting music at their specific level, having fun with music
- physical and social activities – moving to songs and music, learning to following directors, being kind to one another, developing confidence
- vocal development – understanding proper singing, breathing and posture, using Mr./Ms. Music Head, a sphere, bubbles and other fun objects
. . . activities which stimulate their desire to a pure heart, good conscience and a sincere faith in Jesus Christ.
At Tallowood children begin choir at age three, experiencing Bible truths through singing, moving, rhythm, steady beat, creating and team work. Each year builds on the last and is a very important step to worship leadership and participation. Children are encouraged to participate joyfully at every age.
Children might use instruments – Orff, Choir Chimes, autoharps, stepbells, boomwhackers, to name a few plus toys and vocal exploration. They might have fun with parachutes, lummi stickss, tinikling poles, puppets and many more things that help them on their journey to honoring and praising God.
