Times Article from the Pastor

Dear Community of Joy,

When was the last time you had a "come to Jesus" meeting? Have you heard the expression? A friend used it some years ago to describe a serious discussion with another person, who was about to get in trouble. Jesus met with a lot of people. In the weeks leading up to Easter, we will continue our focus on hope, thinking about some of the meetings Jesus had with people. One thing we notice is that Jesus was not trying to get others in trouble. What did Jesus really want for people? He wanted them to know Him and to love Him as He knew and loved them.

Now that our revival has begun, I am praying for all of us and all of our city and all of our state to have a "come to Jesus" meeting. How will we come to Him? In the scriptures, friends often brought friends to Jesus. Andrew did it on a number of occasions. He brought Peter and a boy with a sack lunch and some Greeks who wanted to see Jesus. Andrew was always bringing somebody to Jesus. Are we?

Today, we are praying over the prayer requests submitted by Tallowood on Saturday and Sunday. We are having a "come to Jesus" meeting interceding for the diverse needs represented in this congregation. We are coming to Jesus in prayer for you, caring for your souls. As we come to Him, we act as ambassadors for Christ urging you in the words of Paul found in 2 Corinthians 5 that you might be reconciled to God. Wouldn't this be revival? If we came back to the great Lover of our souls?

What will happen when we meet with Jesus? We will come to know Him better than before. We will come to know ourselves as we never have. We will want God not for what He can give to us but just because of who He is to us. We will see our world through the eyes of the one who created it and loves it most. Jesus said, "I have come to seek and save the lost!" For those of us who have been lost, or are feeling lost, or who can't find our way, Jesus is a great Savior. So whatever else you do as we prepare for Easter, please, please, come to Jesus!

Joyfully,
Duane
