"For You created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb." (Psalm 139:13)

"I tell you the truth. Whatever you did for the least of these my brothers, you did it for me." (Matthew 25:40)

Welcome to the Treasures Ministry of Tallowood Baptist Church

The Tallowood Treasures Class is a place for children with special needs, ages 6 through 18, whose different abilities are celebrated and accommodated. Each Sunday, our Treasures listen to a Bible story, learn to love Jesus, and hear that God has plans for their lives. We have weekly music and art activities. The Treasures Bible Study is offered at 10:00 and 11:15 on Sunday mornings, with the option of staying for both hours. Our regular volunteer teachers are helped each week by a rotating team of loving volunteers of all ages.

For more information, please contact our Children's Minister, Carol Kleckner, at ckleckner@tallowood.org.

Welcome to the new Coordinator of Tallowood Treasures - Mary Lynn Smith

Tallowood has a wonderful history of ministry to persons with special needs. That continues each week as loving and caring volunteers reach and teach children with special needs. It is our desire to grow and expand Tallowood Treasures. We have created a part time position on our children’s ministry team of Coordinator of Tallowood Treasures. This will enable the ministry to expand, reach, and minister to more families. It is with great joy we announce that Mary Lynn Smith will begin October 1, 2011 as the Coordinator of Tallowood Treasures.

Mary Lynn Smith has been privileged to be involved in the Tallowood Treasures Ministry since 2004. As a long-time teacher of children with a wide variety of special needs, she brings that experience to the Treasures Classes, adapting Bible stories and activities to each child's abilities. Each summer, she is involved with the Tallowood Treasures Vacation Bible School as well as Super Place Camp, a combined effort of area churches offering a week-long Vacation Bible School experience tailored for children and young adults with special needs. She is looking forward to expanding the Treasures Ministry, broadening opportunities for both those with special needs as well as their families.

Mary Lynn is married to Doug Smith. They serve as Directors of the Faithful Foundations Young Married Class, and they both teach in the Treasures Classes. They have two grown daughters and two granddaughters. Mary Lynn holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Special Education from Baylor University.
